St Peter’s is the Church of England Parish church for Harton, South Shields. We are a church who welcomes all and are a member of Inclusive Church. We offer a range of styles of service over the week, and hope to offer more in the future.

Some services are quiet and reflective, said services; some are more lively, accompanied by the choir and organ or piano. Our service at 11 am on Sundays is usually a communion service and has a choir. The choir rehearse on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm in church; new members are always welcome.

Weekly services:

Sundays, 11am – Morning Worship

Our main Sunday service for all the church family, occasionally including a baptism, mostly a Eucharistic (communion) service. Sometimes attended by the uniformed organisations. Younger members usually move into the Green Room for their own teaching during the first part of the service. Visitors, including children, are always welcome. See ‘First Time?‘ for tips if you are new!

Refreshments are served after the service.

Sundays, 6pm – Evening Service

We have a variety of evening worship styles including Taizé, Songs of Praise, quiet meditation and Iona worship. This is usually lay-led, so if you would like to join the worship team, please ask!

Thursdays, 10am – Holy Communion

A short, said service from Common Worship. Followed by refreshments in the Green Room.

Daily Prayer 6pm

Evening Prayer is normally said at 6pm on weekdays, on Wednesday at 7pm. All are welcome to this short service of psalms, readings and prayer.
